Looking back, nothing quite sums up my natural tendency to mash up and blur the lines between art, design, and advertising, quite like this little (ok, big!) art series I did in 2007.

I covertly secured a 50’ x 20’ vinyl outdoor board of one of the early iPod launch outdoor boards, a campaign that my former employer, Chiat/Day, had created years earlier around the world. The billboard was massive and heavy, as you could imagine: 400 sq. ft of 20 point vinyl, vinyl so thick I needed a dolly cart to lug it around and a large boxcutter blades to cut through it. So, I secured it, stored it, dragged it around, moved it, and then eventually, busted it out and started transgressing it.

I measured it out, cut it up and stretched them all on large stretcher strips.

And finally, I spray-painted them all, leaving the icons and figure as visible as possible.
